The Shadows Strike

With Redeye and the Shadow creature remaining, the two members of the Crimson Dawn descended from the sky and approached Loxen. A half-elven woman seemed distressed about the fact that the Paladin had absorbed the armor. When told that the dragonborn now owned the mysterious armor, she quickly ushered her male Tiefling colleague towards the Conquest Chamber’s ship to help them out, and then turned back to Loxen, demanding an explanation.
Unconvinced by Soul’s attempts to direct her towards the ship, she attacked Loxen, though with help of the spell Beacon of Hope she was eventually convinced to help them.

As Aragir and Soul looked toward the sailing ship, they could see two shadow pillars spawning on its deck as the refugees quickly sought cover. While Erevan could still be seen, Druindar could not be spotted.

In the meantime, Redeye had been sparring with Cynic. The captain spoke to him, sounding exactly how the sorcerer remembered him even though he was not supposed to be alive. To test whether this was really the captain he once knew, he gave him a trick question, though the captain dodged it, and returned a snide remark mentioning the Rousso family.

Soon after, he reanimated some of his undead crew members and quickly resumed the fight.

As the battle progressed, the situation on the ship deteriorated. Claws were taking the souls of unfortunate Conquest Chamber members, and the conflict eventually ignited a fire on deck that had slowly begun to consume its sails. Aragir quickly left to look for a means of transportation across the distance at sea, and then took down a lifeboat from the Rattlers’ ship.

Redeye was eventually defeated, and before the Saffron Stone on his head shattered he seemed to regain a brief moment of lucidity, allowing him to extend an apology as he drew his last breath and the familiar shadow claw claimed his soul. In hopes of finding what happened to the captain and his crew, Cynic tried to find evidence on the man’s remains. Flashes of memories went by as he meticulously removed Redeye's belongings; Of his time among the crew, and of the battle between the captain and an old friend. To his regret he found nothing that could offer him any insight. Perhaps he would have more luck on their old ship instead.

With the churning clouds slowly dissipating, and the Golem finally defeating the Shadow, the group could now fully turn their attention towards the remaining zombies, and above all, the ship. To their regret, they found it had started to sink, forcing the refugees to evacuate.

Would the group be able to save the Conquest Chamber and those they had attempted to rescue? And would the victorious Golem once again turn to them?
The cogs of Destiny were ever turning…
