Elderwalk, Delbellis’ conundrum
Anew day at the Checkpoint for the Four Feathers. Bittersweet due to Cerrule’s departure. The party heads to the War Tent for debrief. At the entrance Delbellis befriends the guards Durin and Mugha by offering Oatcakes.
Skander has returned from his surveillance on the vanquished Skullmasters and has burned the bodies. Telling us to take their jewels when we can, for that is how they get around and gives us the Ring of Shadow Step. Loxen carries the ring.
Hachi once again reminds us that we should contact him once we find Lord Damir Verim. The party further questions him on the supposed Fold operative that’s assigned to them, but he plays his cards close to his chest.
We get supplies. Health potions and a recipe for firebombs, which will hopefully prove useful against the Skullmasters.
The party borrows mounts and sets out to Elderwalk. On the way they spy a group of suspicious Greenmill farmers, they are guarding a hole? Not trusting the shifty behavior Aragir quickly discovers it’s a hoard containing 10.000 gold. After some teasing, pleading and intimidation the party demands their cut, they keep 3750 for themselves and leave the rest to the farmers so they can defend themselves against the Getaways. In the hole there’s a mark, a skull surrounded by snakes, the Hydra pirates?
Reaching Elderwalk, the center plaza is graced by a big winged humanoid statue of Ilmater, the god of endurance. Cynic notes the similarities between him and the statue and so do the inhabitants of Elderwalk, looking at him in wonder.
Kira greets them and summons Delbellis to a meeting with the council in one hour. The party agrees and goes to meet Delbellis parents Derek and Ikki. They seem nice and loving, if a little bit exasperated with Delbellis’ endeavors.
The council of ElderWalk ensembles. Present are Kira, Falco, Ellion, Mal, Kehack and Elback. They are happy to have Delbellis and the scroll back but disagree with her actions and her wish to continue journeying, they want her to stay and stop asking questions. They need to console their power in Elderwalk and not pay attention to the outside world.
Once Delbellis starts to read the translation the meeting is quickly ended, a few council members angrily walking out after hearing the perceived blasphemy.
Kira, Falco, Ellion and Mal are more understanding but they’ll need some time. The meeting will continue later.
Not sure how to deal with the council, they head over to the cathedral in search of Kora, the tiefling archeologist Tisker spoke about.
We meet Korra Brylar, archeologist from the Gilcrest museum and apparently previous owner of the house we found in Syrenwoods. She recognizes Solis medallion as the one she left there and has one of her own. She says only pure hearts can carry it.
She’s very excited to learn more and tells the creation myth. Proof of the Creation Myth was found in the form of artifacts (amulets, scrolls) and old temples in cities much older than Myrneas, located in the Jungles of Ymon in Avalon. Some of these artifacts might be found in the Gilcrest Museum of Zoology.“ The Titan was so lonely it shed a tear, from which a tree sprouted, Yggdrasil, in the tree sits Solis and from her come all the gods and then all the people.”
Kora also shares that she’s been to various ruins in Avalon and found some information on Solis, but she’s desperately looking for more information. “Solis is the only one free, she’s looking for the door that frees her children.” “She’s the only one left”
The party shares what they’ve seen in the visions, a different ruin than where Kora has searched and told her about the tether Delbellis has. The tether that points North West, to the divine gate?
She’s astounded and quickly tells of the Summer blessing, a festival once a year in which Solis walks among the people, this ritual is to protect the people in the dark months.
She thinks that this is the starting point they need to find answers, to find the Divine gate, but to get there on time they’ll need to leave in the morning. She asks Delbellis to come with her, she’ll await Delbellis at a place called the "Last Bat" in Elderwalk before embarking on her journey back to Avalon.
Loxen reveals she has an archaeologist friend too, someone named Arunic.
