Lands

The World of Yggdrasil consists of several explored landmasses, and in modern times is kept or ruled by the largest group living on it. They are:

Waters

The world of Yggdrasil is ruled by two grande oceans with many channels going between islands and other continental landmasses.

Misty Channel

The largest channel of its kind, it seperates the cold continent of Istros Borealis from the island continent Avalon. The temperature differences between these two landmasses create a thick fog that spans across the majority of the channel, making sea faring and air travel difficult (but not impossible). With the rapidly dropping temperatures reaching extreme colds, the channel contains icebergs and patches of floating iceblocks making navigation rough. While cartography remains possible, it is impossible to map an accurate path through to the snowy region without taking into account some bumps along the way.

Silver Sea

The ocean between the three largest continents. When shipfaring became possible for the largest governing factions of the world, it was initially believed to be a much smaller water body and was referred to as a sea. In addition, the trading across this particular sea became a standard for many trading companies as it was much more gentle than the expansive ocean beyond it. As a result it was dubbed the Silver Sea and remained the same in name ever since.

Storming Expanse

The largest body of water that remains almost entirely unexplored. The currents become increasingly rough towards the open ocean, making exploring with current shipbuilding impossible and experimental air exploration a too large a risk for many. It is currently unknown how much of the world this ocean spans and whether there are any lands out there.

Mythology

In the first century Post Scriptum, researchers and philosophers tried to formulate the theory of the world and the space around it. By finding various sites of historical value, relics of the past allowed the research to put together the mythological theory, which is as follows:

In the before, there was the titan Aetas, the first of the universe. By loneliness a tear was shed and used to grow a plant it could care for: this became the Yggdrasil tree. Aetas and Yggdrasil lived together for millenia and slowly planted the universe with the seed of life from the leaves of the growing tree and the tears of the titan.

With the titan's final tear and a leaf from Yggdrasil, a new titan was created. Aetas called it Anima. Together, the titans would go into the timeless void with Yggdrasil between them at the center of the universe. While the titans continue to live in harmony, Yggdrasil grows ever larger and seeds the cosmos with new stars into all eternity.
