Potions

From Yggdrasil D&D

Here is an exhaustive list of potential potions one can make. The tier indicates the required time and money required to do that (as the ingredients will cost money to buy whereas the time to either find ingredients and/or brew the potion).

To quickly find out the required DC to successfully craft the potion, fill in the form below:

Crafting

The form above works with the formula that is described below. It may calculate the required difficulty check as well as the time and funding needed to successfully complete it. If the DC is failed or the the time needed was interrupted, a failed potion may be created.

Difficulty Rating

To see whether it's possible to create a potion, the following formula may be used to calculate the difficulty rating in succeeding the craft:

Base DC = 7 + ([tier] x 3)
DC = [base DC] + (1.5 x [level difference])

To succeed, the crafter must make a Dexterity or Performance check to beat the DC. For example, to craft the Potion of Invisibility as a level 5 character of any class, the calculation would return a DC of 22. This is because the base DC equals 22 (7 + (5 x 3)) so the definitive DC would be 22 + (1.5 x 0) = 22.

A different example would be if a level 2 character of any class attempts to craft the same potion. Now, the DC equals 27. This is because the DC equals 22 (7 + (5 x 3) and the definitive DC would be 22 + (1.5 x 3) = 26.5 (27).

Funding

The ingredients to create a potion also depend on its tier. This has a cost value which the crafter must pay upfront to begin crafting. The cost formula would be:

Gold = [tier] * 100

For example, to craft the Potion of Invisibility, it would cost 500g to acquire the required ingredients.

Time

The time required to craft it is equal to the difference of the crafter's level and the tier. So for a level 5 character, it would require 1 day to create a potion of Invisibility ontop of the funding needed and passing the difficulty check for succesful completion. For a level 1 character however the time would then be 4 days - they are inexperienced and need more time, ontop of the needed funding and DC.

Failure

In the event that the crafter fails to create the potion (e.g the difficulty challenge was failed or the time was unexpectedly cut short), the potion will be turned into a Bottle of Sludge. When consumed, the user takes 1d4 poison damage.
