Session 18

An educational institute meant for persons capable of using magic. Here, nearly all types of magicks are taught that do not conflict with the laws of nature or those of the Guilds around the world. A regular course at the school consists of 3 years of theoretical classes and 1 year of practical. Students in the latter of their years will be sent into the world on small quests they can finish in groups of 2 to 4 wizards. The rewards are generally paid to the Academy.

Graduating students are capable of using many basic spells but would need a number of years to master more. As such, the Academy provides jobs for graduating students. By doing quests for the Academy, in return, the vast knowledge that is part of the Scarlet Library is free to access.

The Four Feathers receive the OK from Vaeri Aelar to travel to the Scarlet Academy, a Transpose Mage allows them to pass-through and arrive.

After brewing a plan to break into the Vault, the party once again arrives at the Academy.

History

The Academy existed from the early recorded century (Year 29) where documents of the studies of magic have first appeared. The founding members consisted of a fellowship set out to unite their knowledge to better understand the existence and ultimate usage of magic. The creators of the Academy were:

Location

The location of the Academy is always in flux. Certain mages are allocated weekly in the continuous moving of the building around the world, never in one place. It elevates several hundred meters off the ground with the height changing depending on the terrain underneath.

Because it is always in motion and there exist no map to accurately pinpoint to the Academy, new students are generally picked up by the Transpose mages who capable of teleporting from one known location to another.

Spaces within

The Scarlet building is compromised of two wings separated by function. The A-wing is the classrooms and university hallways where students of magicks follow the academic path laid out for them. The B-wing is where post-academic and others study for their respective expertise.

Study Halls

There are currently two known halls:

• Celestia Halls - the studyrooms of Astrology and Astronomy studies
• Doctrina Halls - the studyrooms of Theoretical Physics studies

Library

Connected by a separate magical space within the Scarlet building is the grand library, sitting between the wings. Its entryway is enchanted to connect an otherwise smaller space allowed by the Scarlet Grounds to a pocket dimension where more space is permitted than physically possible.

Dark Vault

Within the Library, protected by high level magic, lies some security vaults holding powerful relics. The purpose of holding these relics is currently unknown.

Relations

Crimson Dawn

A subgroup within the Academy that handles highly sophisticated or troubling problems in relation to magicks. Much is not known but they appear to track unknown arcane energies for some purpose.

Recon Field

A training program within the Academy that explores fascinating uses of the arcane and solves problems where it arises.

Wizard's Guild

The Academy has close ties with the Wizard's Guild and often exchange knowledge and, in some cases, rewards from quests. Members of the Wizard's Guild are often prior students of the Academy who are able to take more types of quests of various difficulties that the Academy would normally not offer. As such, the Academy relies on the Guild for incoming deals while the Guild relies on the Academy for potential new members.
