Session 16

Lost and Found

After they had inspected the crystal, the party decided to go further into Myrneas. They had decided to split the group into those who could fly, and those who could not. Cynic and Delbellis started looking for important buildings, and soon got to a place with several towers. Though to their regret, all they found was more of these shadow-covered figures.

Those on the ground found what seemed like an old library, in which there appeared to be several exhibiton rooms. Some of these rooms were littered with what had to be ancient pages of books that had come loose. Aragir managed to restore a few of these pages, and decided to take them with him.

When the party tried to fly back up to the Waiting Chambers, a Specter revealed itself from the water that held the crystal. She looked like a female elf, and was possibly once a citizen of Myrneas. Cerrule tried to communicate with her, but all she uttered was "Need... life... Need... Need..." A fight was inevitable, and after Delbellis had managed to survive a brief possession the party came out relatively unscathed.

When the party finally returned to the Waiting Chambers, they warned Yalmac and Gustav about the Adventurer's Guild that was about to investigate the catacombs. Gustav quickly rounded the refugees up and directed them to pack their things and prepare to leave for Hunting's Pass. The party decided to not follow them, however, and instead returned to the surface, finding that their way back was strangely bereft of guards. Once back into the hallway of the Adventurer's Guild, they were immediately apprehended by the Golden Garde. Its lieutenant, Druindar, quickly recognised Aragir, and it was soon revealed that they were brothers.

It turned out that it was a grave offense of the guildmaster Terrance to share any information on Myrneas and the catacombs; The queen had decreed that these places were to remain a secret. The party wished for an audience with the queen, though it would take several days to arrange. They decided to share all of their newfound knowledge with Eldgran in his library office later, and took this opportunity to ask after the scroll that Delbellis had left with him for translation.

The translation read as followed;

"In the beginning, the titans watched and cared. The flow of nature preserved, protected, cared for."
"Where the flow of nature is disrupted, the skies will part. There, the titan's eye will gaze upon this earth and deem it unworthy. The flow must stay continuous, pure and seperated from that which cannot be seen by the children of Yggdrasil."
"Rising from the crevices of the dark, the armies of Mortemus march through to make home that which we call ours."
"None know how nor will kin be armed to defend, Mortemus and their allies shall lead the green earth away from the sun into the darkness, away from the light of Yggdrasil. And so it will call forth the cold, the sunless skies, the endless night."
"And thus, the gaze of the titan will mark the beginning of the end for this world. And many more eyes will see through and observe the renewal of the earth as the coloration of life will saturate until it is no more vibrant than a misty winter day."
"Until the day the Illumus Lux is reignited once more, none shall ever see a new dawn beyond the passage of dusk till dark."

This revelation gave Delbellis new idea: The crystal of Myrneas had to have something to do with the Illumus Lux! It was a powerful object that was used by the Wardens, and so they had to take it with them. In light of this new plan, the party decided to return to the inn to discuss the details.

In order to steal the crystal, they still needed a few things. Cerrule decided to prepare a Pass without Trace spell to help them remain hidden, while Aragir, Cynic and Delbellis went looking for a spell that could reduce the size of the crystal itself. Delbellis would use her crowbar to pry the crysal loose, after which they would reduce its size and put it in Aragir's Handy Haversack.

After completing their preparations, the party rested for the upcoming heist.
